Medical Microdermabrasion
The history of Medical Microdermabrasion
Dermagenesis Microdermabrasion uses Corundum crystal also known as aluminium Oxide. The crystals are cuboid in shape and are extremely effective for the purpose of exfoliation. Corundum is an inert material, therefore there can be no specific adverse reactions to it.
Dermagenesis Microdermabrasion uses a highly controlled flow of fine, medical grade crystals to remove the dead, outermost layer of skin. The exfoliation process reveals the new, living cells that are soft, smooth and receptive to nutrients. Using a vacum, the machine and a specially designed handpiece pass micro-fine crystals across the skin. As the crystals make contact, layers of the stratum corneum are exfoliated, then vacuumed away with the dead skin cells. Microdermabrasion is a safer, easy to perform treatment, appealing to both male and female clients, young and old. Constant and easy control of abrasion depth, no healing time, no side effects, no hospitilisation or anaesthesia required.
The benefits of Medical Microdermabrasion are substantial.

Combining Treatments
Microdermabrasion can be successfully combined with alternative facial treatments. It is highly beneficial combining with Agera Rx Skin Peels and IPL photo rejuvenation which will help target different layers of the skin promoting faster rejuvenation and exfoliation of skin cells. Clients undergoing IPL treatment will need to be performed 2 weeks prior to or post microdermabrasion.
Client Information
Does it hurt?
No, it does not. Most clients tolerate this treatment very well with most finding it very relaxing. The sensation experienced is slightly scratchy and warming but this disappears very quickly once the treatment is finished. Although a difference can be seen after only one treatment, a course of treatments is recommended to achieve deeper longer lasting results. The average cell turnover is 4-5 weeks, so it will be at the end of this time that the full results can be seen.
How often do I need treatment?
Once we have extablished your requirements we will set a protocol and the typical length of time between treatments would be 7-10 days but this can be adjusted once we set a programme for you.
For example,
Mild Acne- Once a week for 6 treatments
Acne Scarring- Microdermabrasion 7 days apart for 6-8 treatments.
Fine lines/Wrinkle/Pigmentation- Microdermabrasion 14 days apart for 6 treatments.

Acne scarring before Acne scarring after
Do I need maintenance after my course?
Yes, we do advise you to maintain your results with regular treatments, ideally every 4-6 weeks. The most important aspect of yur skin care will be to use the appropriate Agera/Epionce products every day to enhance results further.
How long does the treatment take?
Approx 30min, allowing you to return to normal daily activities immediately. Although it is safe for you to apply your make-up onto the skin immediately after treatment, it is not advisable for 24 hours. We will apply a dusting of Colourscience 100% Pure Mineral Make-up post treatment.
